In 1736, coffee first arrived in Puerto Rico. By the end of the 19th century, the island had become the sixth largest exporter of coffee in the world, with coffee as its primary agricultural product. It was in 1839 that Alto Grande, a truly exceptional coffee, was born in Puerto Rico.

Since its inception, Alto Grande has delivered unparalleled quality and taste to the Royal Courts of Europe, the Vatican in Rome, and the rest of the world. Harvested from the Hacienda Alto Grande, established in 1839 in the Buenos Aires and Santa Isabel sectors of Lares, Puerto Rico, this coffee has been producing one of the world's finest coffees since the early 19th century.

As market leaders, the creators of Alto Grande recognize their commitment to not only harvesting a high-quality product, but also to the community. In 2014, they launched the 'Sembrando el bien' ("sowing the good") project, focusing on four essential elements for conserving the coffee industry: preserving the land, connecting the community, leading progress, and promoting wellness.

Experts enthusiastically describe Alto Grande as a "rare and exotic Puerto Rican coffee with a very bright, sparkling flavor and a sweet pointed aroma." This Super Premium coffee is known as "the very best" due to its unique Arabica beans, grown in the most ideal soil and climate conditions, and processed to precise standards.

Alto Grande's Arabica beans are classified as "Hard Bean," meaning they are grown at altitudes around 4,000 to 4,500 feet above sea level. At these heights, the beans mature at a slower pace, resulting in a harder and denser structure, leading to unsurpassed consistency and taste.

Processed in the Alto Grande Hacienda, an unparalleled and well-preserved estate deep in the central mountain range of Puerto Rico, the tradition of coffee craftsmanship coexists with the most sophisticated coffee processing system in the world. This unique combination of fertile soil, climate, valley shapes, local know-how, and cutting-edge technology makes Alto Grande one of the three Super Premium coffees in the world.

Alto Grande's unparalleled quality and taste have earned it a place among the coffee of Popes and Kings. Whether in whole bean, ground, single-serve pods, or as part of a brewer machine, Alto Grande delivers an extraordinary coffee experience, elevating your senses with its full body, chocolate undertones, and sweet pointed aroma.
